On a recent break in Edinburgh, I went into an underground bar I’d often passed by in favour of more familiar haunts I’ve come to enjoy over many years of visiting the city.
In the smart, characterful West End we enjoyed the usual choice of quirky cocktails, artisan beers and unusual wines offered by any establishment worth its salt in this part of town. The ambience was modern and well designed, again nothing new about that in the West End.
Harry’s Bar ( http://www.harrysedinburgh.co.uk/ ) is different though: it is now a social enterprise helping young people achieve training and work opportunities they may not have otherwise experienced.
What a fabulous idea, both well executed and benefitting others. If you’re in the area, take time out to drop in and take a look.
